5Vacuumy!
By bozo
I actually bought this vacuum pump to power some bi-mode exhaust valves, not for a ford truck. And it works very good. Builds the vacuum and has an internal switch to tell it to shut off when it reaches.... well I'm not exactly sure what the setpoint is but it's more than enough for my actuators so I'm happy.

I didn't have luck finding an electrical connector for this pump but I made my own out of deutsch brand electrical parts and some silicon. Perhaps ford could have sourced me one but I was in a hurry to play around.

2Worked ok, but didn't last long
By blockp
This pump was a direct fit with my f350. It worked out of the box, but only worked about a year. Original OEM pump lasted about 10 years, this aftermarket replacement 1 year... I went with OEM for my next replacement.

Like others have said, it's noisier than OEM, but who cares... you're driving a diesel and can't hear the pump once the engine is running anyway.

It's cheap and it works, but if you're going to buy it, you might as well get two right away so you have a spare for when the first one fails :)

As others said, it is louder than the original. Mine lasted less than a year; bought it in january and failed end of november. I may have a vacuum leak though, causing it to run all the time.

5Right Tool for the Job
By FJ40
Had to replace a crank shaft pulley on a Subaru Baja. Although some maneuvering involved to get this on through tight spaces without removing upper radiator hose, this was the right tool to hold the OEM pulley for removing the center bolt with a 22mm socket, breaker bar plus pipe. Opted to replace the OE pulley with the Grimmspeed light weight pulley that I will also review, for which this tool is necessary because the removal bolts thread into it vs. the non-threaded OEM hold holes. The Grimmspeed web site video is very helpful in explaining and demonstrating the use of the tool for this procedure.

One thing I would improve though -- the tool comes with nonmetallic washers to protect the Grimmspeed replacement alloy pulley from tool scratches during installation. Unfortunately, it is very clumsy to catch these washers when the tool is removed from the replacement pulley after it is installed (they tell you to first mount the tool to the replacement pulley before installation, so positioning the washers is not a problem at that stage). Adding some ears or tabs to the washers with which to grab them or, better still, substituting a nylon gasket with a tab would ease the washer recovery problem or facilitate attaching the tool AFTER positioning the Grimmspeed replacement pulley through the tight access.

4Nice Tool
By Alfonso G. Dubouzet
Nice tool. Easy to install. Very handy. Work perfectly with my Subaru Forester 2003. Best recommend to use it after the radiator is removed. Else the space in between the crank pulley and the radiator is really tight. Expensive for a simple too. Delivery was prompt

5Works as advertised
By Coach Steve
This tool is quite handy not only for the OEM and Grimmspeed cranks, but if you only install two bolts you can use it as a cam sprocket stabilizer; very useful. Switching between setups is a bit time consuming, but for the price, it is good for any user that doesn't change between Subaru and Grimm crank pulleys all day everyday. With this tool you will need to have an extra breaker bar (or other 1/2" drive tool).

5Works as advertised, trusted brand and cheap price
By RecentGrad
Bought for a 2001 Civic LX and fit like a charm. Other brands tend to cheap out on the quality, but not this one. What I liked best is their attention to detail- in 2003 my car make had a small change in engine production, and that change is brought up in the installation guide, along with a new bolt in case it is needed (I did not need it). Just goes to show the level of detail they provide. Easy to follow instructions and arrived quickly.

5AlphaTherm Heated wash unit
By U. ARK
I bought this unit for my Subaru WRX to try and all I can tell you is a good little device. I totally stopped scraping my windshield from ice and we have a lot of snow and ice here in Michigan. I think hot washer fluid should be standard in all cars or at least an option for northern states. The only thing you need to get used to is waiting 10 to 15 seconds between sprays and not to over spray. But in my case, I installed the unit on the fire wall so I can hear the boiling noise while the unit heating the fluid. It worked out very well for me. I know exactly when to push the button. Installation was a little tough because my washer hose ware on the opposite side of the car. I needed to add extra hose between reservoir and the unit. 4Simple to install and does the job.
By David Golombowski
I hate waiting to have my truck warm up in the morning to defrost the windshield. After installing this product I warm it up for a minute or two spray the windshield to clear the frost/ice and I'm on my way. Pretty simple to install and includes everything you need. Build quality seems to be top notch and up to OEM standards.

5Must Have for the Midwest Region!
By J. T. Hwang
I've purchased this washer heater since I almost hit a parked car driving away from my house before having my windows fully defrosted. That and my nozzles where frozen couple of times in the deep freeze. Installation was easy enough, took about half hour. Didn't even need instructions as I have watched the installation video on manufacturer's website along with performance videos. Didn't need any additional parts, only one spot to install on my 2009 2.3L Ranger. Now my washer heats up in about a minute, comes out warm enough to melt the frozen windshield within three to four cycles of three second washes with 20-second wait time, never had frozen nozzle issue since the install. It's really cool to see steam coming out with the washer fluid. It draws about 52 amps upon starting the engine, but it turns off when the engine is off. Windshield wipers work so much better with the warm liquid, keeps my wipers free of snow and ice. Per the manufacturer's website, great for winter and even better for removing bugs and grime in the summer.

I would highly recommend the AlphaTherm Windshield Washer Fluid Heater, must have for the mid-west location. No more frozen nozzles and crystal clear windshield and no more iced up wiper blades.

2The Good and the Bad With This Timing Belt Kit
By tinman
First the good: The timing belt is produced by Gates. The first timing belt that I bought from the Honda dealer was a Gates belt. Gates is one of the OEM suppliers of timing belts to the American Honda Motor Company. The timing belt tensioner is also from the same manufacturer (KOYO SEIKO) that supplies Honda .

The not so good: The water pump is a "no-name" product made in China. While there are many automotive parts that are now sourced from China, there is a large variance in the quality of these Chinese parts. I am not ready to trust one of the most essential engine components to a supplier with an unknown track record for quality. I have purchased two Bosch water pumps from Amazon in the past and they were also made in China. One of those lasted only 6 months. I sold the other one on Craigslist for half what I paid for it just to get it out of the garage.

I am not going to install the Chinese water pump on my Honda. Replacing the water pump on these engines is too much work to take a chance of having the Chinese water pump go out when I am traveling or of having to do the job again before the regular replacement interval (90,000 - 105,000 miles).

What I am going to do now that I have this kit, is purchase an AISIN water pump from Amazon. AISIN is the OEM supplier of water pumps for Toyotas and it is made in Japan.

To purchase the timing belt and tensioner alone from the Honda dealer would have cost twice what I paid for this Gates kit--and I would have gotten the same quality belt and tensioner. What I wish I had done (and I will do in the future for my family's 10 Hondas) is buy an AISIN Timing Belt Kit ("Aisin TKH-005 Engine Timing Belt Kit with Water Pump" for this application). For this Honda application, the AISIN Kit is only $22 more than this Gates Kit and the Aisin kit has an OEM belt and tensioner and an Aisin water pump made in Japan.

By Jeremy51621
good kit. high quality belt made in usa. tensioner bearing is made in japan. but the water pump is made in china decent quality though. but i would recommand buying the complate kit sold by TBK. it is all high quality parts. comes with all belts that are made in the usa. valve cover gasket and spark plug seals and pump is made in japan as well as the tensioner bearing. spend a little more money and it will be worth it. TBK also sells a full tuneup kit for civics.

By lagflag
I had this kit installed for my Honda Civic 2000 1.6, they fit perfect. The kit doesn't have camshaft seal or crankshaft seal so my mechanic had to buy them.
They do not claim it includes anyway.
I think price of the kit is very good specially after asking for them at Autozone (128$) and pepboys (150$) !!
Thanks amazon. another happy experience was added to my life, and money to my pocket :)

5Sweet!
By Matt
I just received this kit today. I'm pretty impressed. For the price I was a little worried it might have some cheap Chinese knock off parts. Well, happily, it came with a "made in Japan" Bando timing belt, made in USA Bando accessory belts, genuine Toyota tensioner assembly (it's pre-compressed so it eliminates the need for a $30 special tensioner compressor). GMB idler bearings, 82 degree C thermostat (no brand), Aisin water pump, which pleased me, as the photo shows GMB. Aisin is the OEM brand, and is same company that builds the transmission for the 3rd Gen 4Runners. The water pump is also the newer metal gasket kind, so you don't need to mess with the Toyota black sealant. Also included are cam and crank seals which I'm hoping I won't need, but nice to have on hand. Also, shipping was really fast, I received it the day after I ordered it!

5High quality OEM parts without dealership pricing
By Eric Rutter
For a do it yourself guy, this is perfect. Nobody want's to spend the weekend in the garage puting cheap parts in their Toyota. These are high quality, and a couple of them, like the gaskets and tensioner are actaully Toyota factory sealed originals. No complaints here and the price is better than the Toyota parts room by a wide margin. If you aren't fond of Autozone, NAPA, and O'Reillys mystery parts, this is your solution.

5No need to pay extra for genuine Honda
By B. Berger
The hydraulic tensioner is labeled Aisin even though it is sold by Gates. The pulleys are from the Honda oem as well. The water pump and belt itself are the only pieces that do not have oem markings, but I trust that Gates probably makes the oem belts for Honda anyway.

By TeeNado658
Bought this kit to do a timing belt and water pump replacement on an 2004 Saturn Vue with 96,000 miles. Turns out this particular Vue has a Honda engine and drivetrain and that really boosts my confidence in this vehicle. Received the kit and it is high quality original equipment manufacturer grade. Included instructions were helpful and supplemented the service manual I had. Took me about 5 hours to do the install and the car is running just fine with another 100,000 miles in her future. This will save you lots of money if you are able to do the job yourself or by furnishing this kit to an installer there is a cost savings by purchasing through Amazon.

5Great Kit! Excellent Price.
By BIG PAPA
This is the best kit for replacing your timing belt on a 2007 Honda Accord V6. Everything is included other than the labor. If you can turn an wrench, you can do this. Honda made it pretty simple as you just remove the right side fender splash panel to get to all the components. You can pay someone $1,200 to do it for you, or buy this kit, spend half a day, and do it yourself.

This is a direct bolt on timing belt and water pump kit for the F22b1 vtec engine.

It looks much sturdier than the stock one that came off with a thicker impeller. Stock one looks to be folded sheet metal. Belts, tensioner, water pump all look and feel like excellent quality, don't hesitate to buy one.

5Perfect!
By John E. Heyer
My 2004 Forester XS hit the 125,000 mile mark, and I began on the quest of doing my 2 year maintenance. Did my oil and oil filter, cabin and air filters, front and rear differential fluids, transmission and power steering fluids, the fuel filter, and finally the spark plugs and spark plug cables. After going through there recommended guide to see if I missed anything important, I found I indeed had - the timing belt! Subaru recommends replacing at 105,000 miles, and reading up online I heard horrific tales of the belts failing at 125-140k miles, leaving the poor driver stranded and at the mercy of the nearest mechanic.

Determined not to let this happen to me, I started looking in to timing belt replacement and found it would run $1,000+ easily. Holy cow! Shaking my head in disbelief and refusing to spend that much a car that's only worth about $7,500 on a good day, I began to look in to doing the job myself. Countless hours on youtube and reading subaruforester.org led me to conclude the Gates TCK304 kit was my best bet, and at well under $200 it seemed like a bargain. Getting access to the timing belt on a Subaru is no easy task - it requires removing the accessory belts, radiator, crank bolt and pulley, and finally the cover. However, when I finally reached the belt and its pulleys, I was happy to see I had made the right choice. The pulleys in the Gates kit were ABSOLUTELY IDENTICAL to the factory-installed ones on my Forester. The belt, while a different brand, was of high quality and included easy to see markings so I could line it up to the spots the old one came off.

If you're working on a Subaru with 100,000+ miles I'd recommend replacing or at least inspecting the following since you'll have easy access to do so:

- Thermostat, thermostat gasket, and heater hose
- Water pump and water pump gasket
- Radiator hoses, especially the lower one
- Crank and cam seals
- Outer Accessory belts

And note that since changing the timing belt requires removing the radiator, you'll need new coolant of course. Subaru recommends their "green" coolant mixed 50/50 with diluted water, along with a 4 oz bottle of their coolant conditioner.

Tip for SOHC 2.5L engines - wait before putting the lower two pulleys on. Put the belt on the crank, then passenger's cam, making sure the marks on the belt line up. Then do the driver's cam, and use a clip to make it stay there while you install the bottom pulleys. Great video on it - [...]

5Nearly OEM at great savings
By K. Hoober
I just installed this in an 2006 Forester (SOHC 2.5L). The idlers and tensioner appear to be the OEM parts (same part numbers on bearings), the only non-OEM part is the belt, which is an exact fit (lines were even in the right spot) and a quality (made in the USA) part. I uploaded a picture of the idlers from this kit with the factory idlers removed from my Subaru.

5Like OEM but cheaper.
By J. Sylvester
I installed this Gates kit on my 2002 Subaru Forester. It came well packaged and even had a diagram with the torque specs. listed. All the pulleys and bearings were of high quality, as was the belt itself. I tend to use OEM parts from the dealer when I do maintenance, but I'm glad I didn't in this case. I'm sure there's no difference in quality here.

4Perfact match but a minor problem
By ceconomon
This air intake hose was a perfect fit for my Mazda. It looks exactly like the original. The original intake tube was torn in the accordion folds. This caused a CEL P0174 (lean on bank 2).

I did have one problem with the product. After the install, my car started making a strange squealing noise about 30 seconds after the car was started. I removed the intake hose and inspected it carefully. I discovered the vacuum line on the hose was sealed. The hose came with the new vacuum elbow fitting already installed so who would think to verify vacuum line was opened all the way to the hose. There were no instructions included with this part to clue you in to this. I guess if you work on cars all the time this is common knowledge. I drilled the hole out and the noise is gone.

4Almost perfect
By Casey E. Byron
Part is exactly as ordered and was nearly a perfect fit for my '05 Mazda 6 V6 MT. Had to slice off a small section near the intake valve for the O2 sensor connector in order to make it fit properly, and the stock connection was a really tight fit in the replacement hose. A little bit of oil and some elbow grease and it's done. Over all, with any mechanical skill at all, this can be a quick install for the every day driver.

Part appears to work just fine. Very slight alteration in sound of the intake, but I also installed a K&N filter, so it may be due to the filter itself.

Very satisfied with the product.

5For less than a half that Dealer asked me
By D. Kolar
WOW, when I called the local dealer, they have asked me $135 for the same part. I have installed this 3 days ago, and the installation went well. The part is exact fit for my 2003 Mazda6 S, and it does NOT look like it is made from cheap rubber. It took me about 10 minutes to take the old one off (it ripped between the ridges) and install the new one. I hope that I will not need the new one, but if I do, I will definitely buy again.
